A gentle landscape with meadows, forests, and the confluence
of two rivers shelters Dobrna, a small place where a spring
of healing water was discovered in the 12th century.
Its name originates in the word “dob,” a species of English
oak that covered the surrounding hills. The health resort itself
is surrounded by calming green, and its tow-hundred-year-old
avenue of chestnuts is a most remarkable feature. In the 19th
century when the health resort began to develop and expand,
many eminent guests strolled here, among them Louis Bonaparte.
Today as well, Toplice Dobrna is popular above all with those
who desire calm after the noise pace of everyday life. At the
same time, it has the advantage of being close to a major traffic
route and is thus easily accessible.
